King’s Lynn Town FC will enter an under 18 team into the Thurlow Nunn Youth League for the upcoming season.

The new youth side will compete in the Western Division for the 2015/16 campaign.

The move by the youngsters was ratified at the league’s annual meeting at the weekend at Diss Town FC.

Linnets press officer Mark Hearle said: “We’re very, very pleased to be able to do this.

“The club have not had an under 18 side for a number of years. There has been a lot of clamour for it.”

Trials for the U18’s will take place at noon at The Walks on Saturday, July 4 and will form part of a ‘King’s Lynn Town Football Club open day’.

All players of the age of 18 years and under are encouraged to attend The Walks on the day when they will be put through their paces.

The youth team will be managed jointly by Ross McNeil and John Stocker. The first Youth Team game is away at Peterborough on Saturday, July 11, 11 am kick off.

The team will play in the Thurlow Nunn Western Division Youth League along with the following: Chatteris Town, Downham Town, Holbeach Utd, St Ives Town, Huntingdon Town, March Town Utd, Peterborough Northern Star and Wisbech St Mary.

At 2pm the KLTFC first team will be training on the pitch. The open day, which also sees the new kit being unveiled, will be free to enter and fans are welcome to attend.

l Robbie Back has wasted no time in his new role as King’s Lynn Town Reserves boss with the announcement of three new signings on Friday.

Simon Bird, Matty Bussens and Cieran Beales will all be wearing the blue and gold next season as the Linnets youngsters look to build on last season’s impressive top six Thurlow Nunn Division One finish.

Back also said that he had spoken to all of last season’s squad and all will be staying at the club.

A busy Back also confirmed the arrival of sports therapist Victoria Frammingham to the club and also said he is hopeful of being able to confirm his new assistant manager during the next week.

King’s Lynn Town Reserves friendly fixtures. All matches will be away: July 18 Heacham, KO TBC; July 21 Cromer Town, 7.45pm; August 1 Wisbech St Mary, 3pm.

Fixtures to be confirmed: Outwell Swifts, Harleston Town and Wells Town.
