King’s Lynn Town Football Club has picked up a new advertiser in the form of the local RAF Reserves Unit, 2620 Squadron.

RAF Reserves will be proudly displayed across the chests of the Linnets’ under 18 team as they battle it out in their first season of the Thurlow Nunn Youth League West Division.

Based at RAF Marham, 2620 Squadron is a RAF Regiment Reserve Squadron recruiting males aged between 18-55. Through weekend training they support the regular RAF Regiment in providing force protection on operations and in the UK.

Flight Lieutenant Charlie Hatch (29) said: “2620 Squadron is proud of its links with the local community.

“As a Unit that recruits from all over Norfolk, we are always looking for new ways to advertise the fantastic opportunities that Reserve Service brings.

“Fitness, teamwork and determination are all values we seek in our Reserve personnel, which King’s Lynn Town Football Club demonstrates every week. We’re looking forward to supporting the U18 team throughout the rest of the season.”

Sergeant Matt Scott (41) said: “On a personal note, it’s really nice to be supporting King’s Lynn Football Club and youth football as my late grandfather (Jim Chandler) first played for the club aged 17 in 1934 and went on to play over 100 games in goal for the team.”

Lynn are currently second in the nine-team youth league behind leaders Wisbech St Mary, who have 33 points from 12 games.

Lynn have 24 points from 10 games and third-placed Peterborough Northern Star have 22 points from 10.

2620 Squadron is recruiting now. To find out more, search RAF Reserves online, follow 2620 Squadron on Facebook or call 03456 069069.
