King's Lynn Town 2 Chippenham Town 0

King's Lynn Town striker Sam Mulready bagged a brilliant brace as the Linnets inflicted Chippenham's second defeat of the season.

Mulready made it five goals in as many matches at The Walks to make sure that Lynn bounced back from their shock midweek defeat at struggling Bedworth.

The Lynn frontman had playermaker Michael Clunan to thank for his first goal in the 17th minute before a stunning lob from the edge of the box sealed victory 19 minutes from time.

Apart from the goal the first half was a story of chances being either missed or denied by the woodwork.

The first chance fell to Lynn on 11 minutes when Michael Clunan's free-kick was met by Toby Hilliard and his effort hit the outside of the post.

On 14 minutes Andy Sandell beat Ryan Fryatt to present a one-on-one with Alex Street but managed to put the ball wide.

Three minutes later, Lynn took the lead when Sam Mulready was on hand to bravely prod home after a defence-splitting pass from Clunan.

The woodwork was again involved on 32 minutes when Lee Stevenson's 20 yard shot hit the base of the post.

Two minutes before the interval, Alex Ferguson headed wide from a free-kick with just Street to beat.

Lynn started the second half brightly with Lee Stevenson seeing his free header straight at the visiting goalkeeper Kent Kauppinen.

Ferguson then looked likely to equalise on 51 minutes but with Street beaten Ryan Fryatt came to the rescue to clear.

On 71 minutes Mulready made the game safe with his second of the afternoon getting behind Mark Preece to hit an exquisite chip over Kauppinen, which went in off the inside of the post to go in.

The woodwork was again involved, this time denying Greg Tindle.

Lynn however had the better of the closing chances with substitutes Jacek Zielonka, Jack Friend and Jack Frohawk all trying to add to the score.
