King’s Lynn Town 1 Curzon Ashton 3

King’s Lynn Town defender Henry Eze saw red as the Linnets’ six-game unbeaten run came crashing to an end.

Eze was shown a straight red card six minutes into the second half as Lynn’s disciplinary problems continue to mount.

A Ryan Brooke brace put Curzon Ashton in control before Andrew Watson added a third after home striker George Thomson had replied for the hosts from the penalty spot.

Beaten Linnets boss Gary Setchell said: “We had one or two round pegs playing in square holes because of suspensions and we didn’t play that well, if I’m honest.

“We’ve been on a good run and got ourselves in a good position, but if we want to stay in and around the top-five we’ve got to start proving ourselves against some of the teams in there.”

Already without three suspended players, Lynn’s task was made more difficult before the game when Gregg Smith failed a fitness test.

Curzon pressure paid off in the 28th minute when Walker’s strike at goal was glanced into the net by the head of Brooke just inside the six-yard-box.

Lynn’s task was made even more difficult six minutes after the restart when Eze was dismissed following a crunching tackle on Walker.

Four minutes later, Walker picked out Brooke and he rifled his side into a two-goal advantage with an emphatic finish past Alex Street.

Home substitute Shaun Stocker gave Setchell’s side a glimmer of hope after playing a one-two and feeding in Michael Frew. The frontman was hauled down in the box by Simon Lakeland and Thomson did the rest from the spot to score his seventh goal in as many games.

But those hopes were finally dashed 13 minutes from time when Watson headed home a Walker corner after home goalkeeper Street failed to collect the cross.

The final damage could have been far worse since Niall Cummins rattled the woodwork in either half.
