Biggleswade Town 2 King’s Lynn Town 4

John Sands bagged a brace as King’s Lynn Town bounced back from their recent disappointments on their first-ever visit to the Carlsberg Stadium.

It was three goals in the space of nine minutes which changed the whole complexion of the match and saw the Linnets to an excellent away victory.

But Gary Setchell’s side had to come from behind before recording their first win in three games.

The hosts took the lead on seven minutes when Max York nodded on Nick Freeman’s corner for Craig Daniel to turn in on the volley.

Jordan Yong had Lynn’s first effort but soon after Lynn were on level terms.

Waders’ Max York was harshly adjudged to have handled the ball in the area, when ball-to-hand looked a more likely decision, and Michael Clunan dispatched the penalty via the upright.

Six minutes later a neat build up between Yong and the impressive Jack Friend saw the latter’s cross ball find John Sands on the edge of the box and he slammed the ball home.

Midway through the first period Lynn established a two-goal margin when Lee Stevenson’s cross from the left was met by the head of Sands.

Further chances fell to Lynn with Sands first screwing his shot wide and then latching onto a long clearance from Alex Street but seeing his lob go over the bar.

Friend also came close to getting on the scoresheet but his shot was cleared off the line by York with the Biggleswade goalkeeper well beaten.

Sands saw another effort loop over the bar just after the restart, while at the other end Street was called up to save at the feet of Inih Effiong.

Toby Hilliard was on hand to make it 4-1 following a miskicked clearance from Callum Lewis.

The Waders pulled a goal back on 59 minutes when a lapse in the Lynn defence allowed Freeman to run clear and stroke the ball past Street.

The goal gave the home side hope and they had further chances through Freeman and Effiong but the Lynn defence held firm for an impressive win on the road.
