Norfolk Senior Cup

Norwich City Under 21s 6 King’s Lynn Town 3

Linnets boss Gary Setchell had few complaints after seeing his side dumped out of the Norfolk Senior Cup on Saturday.

Two goals in as many minutes at the start of the second half turned the game in Norwich’s favour after the sides had gone in level at 1-1 at half-time.

City’s Jacob Murphy who, along with his brother Josh, signed a professional contract with the Canaries at the end of last week, helped himself to a hat-trick as the goals flowed in the second half.

Setchell said: “We’ve played against some decent opposition this year in Telford and Eastbourne but those two (Josh and Jacob) were far better than anything I’ve seen at that level.

“The two boys showed real quality. They’ve got a lot of developing to do but they’re at a great club in Norwich City.

“I dread to think how good the first-team players are if they’re so young and miles off it so to speak.

“Norwich played some unbelievable football and scored some great goals, but we scored some great goals, too.

“It was an end-to-end game and one we wanted to win and we were in it. I handicapped us a bit by taking four men and my top scorer (Steve Spriggs) out of the side.

“We went for broke when we went 3-1 down, which is why we ended up conceding six.”

All three of Jacob Murphy’s goals came in the second half after an Oli Durojaiye penalty had cancelled out Danny Beaumont’s opener for Lynn.

George Thomson, who had a cracking game in the middle of the park for Lynn, scored twice after the break but a second goal for Durojaiye and an effort from Jamar Loza saw City’s young-guns run out comfortable winners.
