Sport - Football: Setchell wishes for some warmer weather

KING’S Lynn Town boss Gary Setchell wants games to be coming thick and fast and not cancelled due to the bad weather.

Lynn’s game against Cogenhoe was postponed at the weekend so the team trained instead to keep themselves sharp and focussed on the title run in.

Setchell said: “We trained on Saturday and we will train again on Wednesday. We played a bit of five-a-side and the lads were in good spirits, with plenty of banter being thrown around.

“Obviously we didn’t really want the rest because we are in very good form at the minute, but we will keep our foot on the gas and keep trying to get as many points as possible.”

Lynn have accumulated an impressive 68 points in their 25 league games this season and Setchell is pleased with the progress the team has made.

“We are not going to get carried away and will take one game at a a time, but we do have a great points tally for the amount of games we have played and are in a very good position.”

The Town boss is hoping that Saturday’s game away at Irchester will be on, but realises that the low in the table side will pose a stiff test.

“We never take any games for granted in this league. We need to make sure we turn up with the right mental attitude and equip ourselves in the same way as we have been recently.

“We had a really good result away at Corby last week, so if we maintain that level of performance then I am confident that we can take all three points.”

Setchell is hopeful that the club will have a new addition to the squad for Saturday’s game, as reported in the Lynn News on Friday, a seven day approach has been put in by the club for a player, but Setchell is keeping quiet about his identity.

The weather had a dramatic effect on all football fixtures this weekend, with games in the United Counties League and Ridgeons Division One all being cancelled.

Fixtures in the North West Norfolk and West Norfolk Scaffolding Sunday league were off meaning it was a complete white-out over the weekend.
