Sport - Football: Turn up the volume
Gary Setchell wants Lynn fans to recreate the atmosphere of their first-round win at Worksop as they look to continue their giant-killing exploits in the FA Trophy.
The Linnets have made a real splash in this season’s competition, having beaten higher-league opposition four times on their way to the second round proper.
More than 1,000 fans are expected at the game and the Lynn manager feels the supporters have another huge part to play tomorrow if his side are to make AFC Telford United their biggest scalp yet.
Setchell said: “The fans have been brilliant all season, but at Worksop it was a real special atmosphere and we will need every one of our supporters right behind us tomorrow.
“Let’s not wait until we score a goal for the fans to come alive, we want everyone singing and behind us before we even kick a ball.”
Barwell, Carshalton, Eastbourne Borough and Worksop have all fallen by the wayside, but the visit of AFC Telford – three rungs higher on the non-league ladder – will provide Lynn with their hardest test yet.
Lynn have already pocketed £15,000 in prize money from their dream run this season and stand to win another £6,000 if they can overcome their Shropshire visitors.
The Linnets are 11/4 with several firms to overcome their Blue Square Premier visitors, who are a best-priced 17/20 at Bet365.
