King’s Lynn Town Football club can confirm that George Thomson has left the club to Join Vanarama Conference side Chester FC subject to paperwork work being completed.

The Linnets have agreed a sell on clause with Chester should the 22-year-old be sold in the future.

Thomson joined the Linnets in 2012 having previously seen service with the Nottingham Forest academy. He also spent a year in Spain playing for Jerez Industrial.

Lynn signed Thomson from Histon and he has since gone on to score 37 goals from 111 games in all competitions.

A disappointed Gary Setchell told www.kltown.co.uk. “It goes without saying that I am very, very disappointed to be losing George at this stage of the season. I had hoped to be able to hold onto George until the end of the season.”

Setchell continued: “Chester had a good look at him over the summer and I was hoping that their interest had gone away. However they have now come back and unfortunately George has made the decision to leave the club.

“I must stress that the club has done all it possibly can to retain George’s services, but he has made his decision to leave and we will not stand in his way.

“I wish to thank George for all of his efforts whilst with King’s Lynn Town. He has been a tremendous servant to the club and we wish him well for the future.”
