Swaffham Town 2

Godmanchester Rvrs 5

The Pedlars produced a fine performance but struggled for points as top three contenders Godmanchester left Shoemakers Lane with all three points on Saturday.

Goddy took the lead in the 17th minute and made it two just after the half-hour.

Swaffham countered and got one back in the 36th minute, Jake Platten rising at the back post to head home. Richard Cornwall levelled on the stroke of half-time, stabbing the ball home through a confusion of players in the box.

Nine minutes into the second half the visitors made it three.

Swaffham revised tactics and shape to try to counter and change their approach.

The desired equaliser came close but did not arrive, Godmanchester picking up two further goals in the last five minutes, quickly counter attacking and using league leading goalscorer James Hall’s abilities to their best.

The Pedlars were denied two potential penalty pleas themselves.

The Pedlars give thanks to club sponsor Narford Scaffolding for their continued assistance and The George Hotel for the after-match hospitality.
