King’s Lynn Town Reserves 3 March Town United 1

King’s Lynn Town Reserves boss Jonathan Hawes has upped the ante for his in-form side following their derby victory at The Walks.

Hawes has set his young guns a top-five finish after seeing them record their third win on the bounce against the high-flying Hares.

A brace from Jack Frohawk and a goal for Luke Biles earned success over their local rivals.

Hawes said: “At the start of the season I was looking for us to try to finish in the top ten.

“But after our recent performances, including Saturday’s against March, I’ve challenged the lads to try to push for a place in the top five.

“We went through a little bit of a mini slump where we lost pace with the top five, but we’ve picked up in the last few weeks.

“After going almost a month without a match, I was a bit worried going into the March game but the players were absolutely magnificent.

“They didn’t look as though they had even had a break and, although March have had a break in games recently too, I think we dealt with it better than what they did.”

Biles gave Lynn a first-half lead with Frohawk making it 2-0.

Denny Escorcio pulled a goal back for the Hares but Frohawk added his second of the day to deservedly earn Lynn the three points in a game which saw seven bookings.

On the two Lynn goalscorers, Hawes said: “Luke (Biles) has got himself a lot fitter and has been a breath of fresh air since he has come back into the team.

“Jack (Frohawk) is playing with so much confidence at the moment. He is still only 19 and is continuing to develop.

“One of his goals against March, where he out-stripped three defenders, was a brilliant finish.

“He has so much raw pace and that’s something you can’t coach into a player.”

Saturday’s victory lifted Lynn Reserves up to eighth in the table – just two points behind fourth-placed Swaffham, who they travel to in another big local derby at the weekend.
