Sport - Golf: Golfers scramble for last event of 2011
WITH another successful season over, the junior golfers of Searles Leisure Resort joined forces with the adults to play their last 2011 event.
With clear conditions and a sharp nip in the air, ten teams of four players consisting of juniors and adults, teed off to compete for the John Daniels Texas Scramble Challenge.
John is a very keen supporter of the junior squad and is in his third year of sponsorship.
The final result was decided by half a shot with a score of 29.6.
The winning team consisted of Joe Long and Danielle Stocker, along with team members Paul Searle and John Ruggles.
Joe Long also had a very consistent 2011 season by taking the Elite Squad Order of Merit Trophy, sponsored by Mike Brannon.
The day finished in fine style with the juniors Christmas party, with 65 juniors and adults sitting down for an evening meal and a night of fun and games.
Ray Stocker, PGA professional, and his assistant Luke Harris have put together a junior event schedule for 2012, staging at least one event per month from March to December.
