EIGHTY-eight well-wrapped up members of Middleton Hall Golf Club took to the fairways to play in a waltz stableford in support of the new captain’s charities.
After a shotgun start, followed by some very good play and lots of friendly banter between the teams, the competition was won by C. Hornigold, R. Griffiths, S. Thompson and P. Barker with a whopping 89 points.
The runners-up were S. Tash, M. John, J. Noble and J. Hurrell with a respectable 82 points.
Everyone converged on the clubhouse for some well-earned refreshments, where it was announced that more than £400 pounds was raised.
This was divided equally between the Quiden Children’s Hospice, Raynaud’s and Scleroderma Association and Macmillan Cancer Support.
The four new captains proceeded to take their inaugural drives down the tenth fairway and to the delight of everyone a very respectable combined drive distance was achieved.
D. Holland. who guessed this correctly. received a bottle of whisky.
Then John Burton on behalf of the new captains congratulated all the winners and thanked everyone for making the day such a success.
