Heggs seals league loans

LINNETS boss Carl Heggs is confident of concluding some more transfer business in the next 24 hours after agreeing loan deals for two new players with Championship clubs.

Heggs, who is masterminding a UniBond promotion challenge at The Walks next season, is also in advanced talks with a centre-half and a midfielder as his squad continues to take shape.

On his latest quest for new faces, Heggs, who would make the centre-half his club captain, said: "If I get the player I'm after he'll be an amazing signing.

"He's a real beast. He will get his head in, stand on people and is an out-and-out winner with a great temperament.

"He's had offers from two other Conference North clubs. We can't compete with them money-wise but I've told him to come here and be part of what I'm trying to build.

"I'm 85 per cent sure that I will get him, but in football you can never be certain until they have signed on the dotted line.

"I'm trying to put together a team capable of making everyone in Lynn proud and if I can get the players in I'm after, then we will be well on the way to achieving that."

On the loan deals, Heggs confirmed he has finalised a season-long loan for a defender and a three-month loan deal for a highly-rated winger, details of which will be released when the clubs concerned return to pre-season training.

Heggs lost out on one of his targets yesterday when the left-back he was chasing put pen-to-paper for a Blue Square Premier club.

"I might be able to sell snow to Eskimos but it's a big ask competing against a club offering 650 with what we are able to offer," said Heggs.

Meanwhile, recent arrival Cullum Lloyd has spoken of his delight at linking up with Heggs.

Versatile midfielder Lloyd (pictured left) said: "I know a lot about Carl and a lot of players who have played under him and all I've heard is good things.

"I'm looking forward to playing for him and giving promotion a really good go.

"Lynn are a big club and playing in front of nearly a thousand fans every week will be brilliant."

Defender Greg Crane became the latest member of last season's squad to leave on Wednesday when he signed for Ryman League outfit Lowestoft Town.

Crane joins Luke Graham, Scott Howie, Mark Camm and Rob Murray out of the exit door, while forwards Jack Defty and Julian Joachim are being linked with a possible move to arch-rivals Boston United.
