Heggs: Time to move on

LINNETS boss Carl Heggs has called upon fans to forget the departures of the majority of last season's squad after adding two more new faces to his playing staff.

Heggs continued his summer signing spree at the weekend with the additions of winger David Galbraith and defender Stephan Morley.

Twelve new signings have arrived at The Walks in less than three weeks and Heggs said: "Bar one, I've managed to get every player I targeted in every position.

"Players will always come and go at a club, that's football and it's no different here.

"Players don't sign contracts as long as people are supporters of a club and this is a new era for the fans of King's Lynn.

"I realise fans have had their favourites from previous seasons but the players I've brought here have all got the chance to make themselves new heroes with the supporters.

"We've now got the nucleus of a really good side and these are the best players the club have had for a number of years.

"I've kept to my word and put together a young, energetic, hungry and exciting team and I now want the fans to get firmly behind them."

Galbraith (25) spent a season with Tottenham as a youngster, before moving to Northampton Town, where he made 29 appearances.

He moved to Boston United, initially on loan, and remained there until August of last year when he signed for Kettering Town in the Blue Square Premier.

Left-back Morley, meanwhile, has been snapped up from Rugby Town where he was the manager's Player of the Season for 2008-09.

He made 40 appearances for Rugby before joining Banbury for a short spell and then returning to the Warwickshire-based club last season.

On his latest acquisitions, Heggs said: "If I can keep David injury-free and give him the confidence he needs then he will be a revelation in the UniBond league.

"He suffered two broken ribs and a collapsed lung in a friendly for Kettering and that really set him back.

"David will give us great balance in the team and his quality at set pieces is excellent. He has so much ability.

"Stephan is a steady player and I've told him to make the left-back position his. He is another young player who comes here from a good background."

On other possible targets, Heggs said: "I'm trying my best to pursuade Dominic Dwyer and Ross Kelly to sign and will be talking to both players this week.

"I've still got the two loan players to come in and I've got a number of trialists to look at during pre-season, four of whom are from Huddersfield, and a few are from other clubs."

l The Linnets will host Championship outfit Leicester City in a friendly at The Walks on Saturday, July 18.

l The steering group behind the formation of a Supporters Trust are holding a meeting at the Blue and Gold Club on Thursday (7.30pm) to form the working party and its sub groups, which will take the Supporters Trust through to its launch in September and onto its first AGM.
