Jamie in prime form

THERE was a big weekend of stock car and banger action at the Norfolk Arena with the F1 and 2L Stock Cars in action on Saturday and the TSR Bangers, MiniStox and 1300 Stock Cars taking to the track on Sunday.

Norfolk’s Matt Newson had his best meeting of the season on Saturday when he stunned the sport’s elite by storming to a heat and final double.

Lee Sampson (Lynn) and his brother Jamie took a one-two in the first heat of the Saloons; in the second heat Jamie was first from Scott Aldridge (Lynn) and Lee. In the final Jamie Sampson took the flag from Simon Venni (Long Sutton)

Dwayne Powell (Downham) was winner of the Roundwheel Racewear White Top Award.

Sunday’s action started with a charity race with drivers raising money for the Rudham Children’s Ward at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the East Anglian Air Ambulance. It was race organiser Lee Farrell (Wisbech) who took the chequered flag from Adam “Choppy” Lamb (Lynn) and Martin Broomfield (Hunstanton) third.

The 1300 Stock Cars saw the Flying Fireman Jamie Wyatt (Lynn) have his best result coming home in second place in the final to Danny McClusky (Littleport)

Next meeting is on Saturday, July 18 (6.30pm) with around 120 2L National Bangers expected to be in action for their world final where Chris Walden will defend his title from the front with racing also coming from the 2L Stock Cars and Lady Bangers.
