The King’s Lynn Stars announced on Monday they have added talented young Dane Nikolaj Busk Jakobsen to complete their squad for 2016.

The 22-year-old is a rising star of the sport and piled up 15 points when helping Denmark win the silver medals in the World Under 21 Team Cup in Australia towards the end of last year.

Jakobsen will ride for Peterborough in the Premier League this season.

Stars boss Rob Lyon said: “Nikolaj is a talented rider and I have heard a lot of good things about him, we are very pleased he will be a King’s Lynn Stars squad member.”

Roger Warnes Transport Stars reserve Carl Wilkinson was backing himself to be fit for Lynn’s Elite League opener on Thursday at the Adrian Flux Arena after crashing at Scunthorpe on Sunday.

Wilkinson has suffered a small break in his collarbone. He was taken to hospital after the crash and underwent X-Ray’s to determine the damage. The results have found the break, but the reserve is defiant in racing on Thursday when the Stars host Lakeside in the Elite League season opener.

Wilkinson said: “I have a small break and will go to the fracture clinic on Tuesday morning. It’s going to be a painful week getting myself ready for Thursday. I will be their getting stuck in.”
