Last night’s (Wednesday) Elite League Speedway match at the Adrian Flux Arena between King’s Lynn Stars and Swindon was abandoned due to a waterlogged track after a 7pm downpour.
Frustrating scenes saw Lynn owner Keith Chapman battle to stage the meeting, but after four heats in two hours the fixture was called off after riders expressed concerns about the track.
A club statement said: “Tonight’s abandonment was bitterly disappointing, and we apologise to loyal supporters of both sides for the inconvenience and delays.
We hope the supporters could see that Keith Chapman and his track staff did everything they could to get the meeting on but to no avail.
The club have taken immediate action and everyone who attended tonight with a re-admission ticket will be eligible to attend any speedway meeting at King’s Lynn between now and the end of the season.
If this is not convenient then we politely ask that supporters contact the office at the Adrian Flux Arena or email email@example.com to ask for a refund.
King’s Lynn owner Keith Chapman said: “I’m devastated. I did everything I possibly could to give the riders the conditions they wanted after what was a very heavy downpour.
“Sadly this was to no avail, but I can honestly say I did my very best to get this meeting on. I would like to apologise to the fans for the frustrating delays, and would urge everyone to please continue supporting us.
“This is not a normal situation at King’s Lynn, so please do come back again and support speedway at the Adrian Flux Arena.”
