Coventry 48 Lynn Stars 42

The King’s Lynn Roger Warnes Transport Stars came away from Coventry’s Brandon Stadium with a well deserved league point on Friday night following a narrow 48-42 defeat by the Elite League leaders.

Rob Lyon’s side put Wednesday night’s postponement disappointment behind them as they started the meeting in great form.

Number one Niels-Kristian Iversen stormed to victory in the opening race with Nicklas Porsing giving the Stars a 4-2 with a third place finish.

Lynn’s reserve pairing Lewis Kerr and Ashley Morris then put the Stars six points clear with maximum points in Heat two. However the hosts closed the gap to just two points after five heats with two 4-2 race advantages.

Iversen and Vaclav Milik scored a 5-1 in the sixth to restore the Stars’ six point lead, but after a delay for track work, Coventry worked their way back into the meeting.

Firstly with a 5-1 ahead of Kerr and Porsing in Heat 8, and then they took the lead for the first time in Heat 10 with Hans Andersen and Danny King fending off a hard charging Iversen.

The Stars couldn’t stop the home side’s charge and dropped further behind after Heat 11 as the Bees scored another 5-1 to open up a six point gap.

The points difference remained heading into the last race, with the Stars duo Iversen and Milik sent out to get a result by boss Lyon.

Iversen won the race after making a brave move down the back straight to pass Joonas Kylmakorpi, he went on to win the race and secured an away league point for the Stars.

Coventry Bees: Jason Garrity 14+1, Joonas Kylamkorpi 12, Chris Harris 9+3, Danny King 7+1, Hans Andersen 6, Aaron Summers (G) 1, James Sarjeant 0.

King’s Lynn Stars: Niels-Kristian Iversen 12, Lewis Kerr 9, Kenneth Bjerre 7, Ashley Morris 5+3, Vaclav Milik 4+2, Robert Lambert 4, Nicklas Porsing 1.
