The King’s Lynn Roger Warnes Transport Stars ended their penultimate Elite League fixture of the season with a disappointing 62-30 defeat to reigning champions Poole on Wednesday night.

Lynn never recovered from a poor start against the Pirates, who quickly moved 12 points clear after five races at Wimborne Road.

That allowed boss Rob Lyon to put Niels-Kristian Iversen (pictured) out for double points in heat six, although the Stars captain and Kenneth Bjerre scored a 5-3 advantage, but it made little difference to the overall result.

Poole went on to dominate proceedings in the second half of the meeting with eight heat advantages to the Stars’ one.

With just one outstanding fixture against Swindon left for the Stars, a place in the end of season play-offs remains in the balance with results elsewhere also having a say.

Poole Pirates: Maciej Janowski 13+1, Kacper Gomolski 13+1, Chris Holder 10+1, Davey Watt 10+2, Kyle Newman 8+3, Paul Starke 5, Dakota North 3+1.

King’s Lynn Stars: Niels-Kristian Iversen 8, Richard Lawson (G) 7, Robert Lambert 6, Nicklas Porsing 3, Josh Bates (G) 3, Ashley Morris 2, Kenneth Bjerre 1+1.
