Tuesday night saw the King’s Lynn Roger Warnes Transport Stars’ unbeaten home run come to a disappointing end as basement club Leicester pulled off a surprise 46-44 win.
The defeat at the Adrian Flux Arena for the Stars puts the pressure on if they are to reach the end of season playoffs.
A trip to Poole tonight (Wednesday) could prove to be vital in how far the club go this year.
A slow start against the Lions saw Lynn fall six points behind after just three races. That was made ten points after a controversial decision to exclude Nicklas Porsing in heat five while challenging with Leicester’s Simon Lambert.
The Stars worked their way back into the meeting with guest Jacob Thorsell winning heats 6 and 8 with a heat advantage following each time. Kenneth Bjerre and returnee Robert Lambert raced to a 5-1 in the tenth to level the meeting at 30 points apiece.
Heading into the final race, both sides remained level and the Stars needed a heat advantage to claim a win. That wasn’t to be however as Stars number one Niels-Kristian Iversen was passed by Chris Harris on the run to the line to seal a defeat for Lynn, their first at home this year.
The Stars travel to Poole tonight, and they will need to come away with a result to keep their play-off hopes alive.
King’s Lynn Stars: Niels-Kristian Iversen 12+1, Jacob Thorssell 11, Kenneth Bjerre 6, Robert Lambert 5+2, Carl Wilkinson 5+1, Nicklas Porsing 4, Ashley Morris 1.
