The King’s Lynn Stebbings Car Superstore Young Stars’ hopes of making the final of the National League Knockout Cup were ended on Wednesday night following a 108-72 aggregate loss to Cradley.

Dale Allitt’s side faced a tough challenge against the Heathens, with 12 points needed to be made up from the first leg at the Adrian Flux Arena last week.

Ryan Kinsley (pictured) top-scored with 11+1.

Despite a solid start from the Young Stars, where they closed the aggregate score to 10 points in the opening four races, the home side took control of the fixture from Heat 5.

By the turn of the meeting, the Young Stars fell 12 points behind on the night, 24 points on aggregate, and were also reduced to five riders with the withdrawal of captain Scott Campos though a shoulder injury.

Heat advantages against the Young Stars in the final four races resulted in a 57-33 defeat on the night. Despite the loss, manager Allitt was pleased with his team’s efforts in the competition.

He said: “Tonight was always going to be tough with points to make up from the first leg. Overall I can be pleased with the team for getting this far in the competition and without the injuries over the two legs I believe the tie would have been closer.”
