Ladies Invitational Tournament 2015

On what was officially the hottest day in July on record in the UK, Heacham Manor Golf Club staged their first Ladies Invitational tournament.

Each member of the team invited two guests to play in the tournament which saw 51 ladies take part on Wednesday, July 1. With the best two stableford scores on each hole counting and all three counting on the par 3’s, every team member had their part to play in the final score.

In an effort to help beat the heat, volunteers from the men’s senior team kept the ice cold beverages flowing on the course until the ladies had a chance to cool down back at the Avocet Barn, where the results revealed a tie between two teams on 87 points.

After a late lunch in the Mulberry Restaurant served by new head chef Liam Starmer, Luke Harris, deputy golf manager, presented the winners with their prizes.

Rachel Hodgkinson, ladies captain, commented: “It was fantastic to see so many ladies playing in our very first Invitational day at Heacham Manor. Even though it was the hottest day of the year everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy the day.”

Results: 1 Angela Bissett (Heacham Manor) and her partners Jan Nixon (Searles) and Patricia Nixon (Ely City); 2 Joan Gill (Heacham Manor) and partners Marie Long (Middleton) and Jane Purdy (King’s Lynn); 3 (85 points) Anne Wells (Heacham Manor) and partners Judith O’Brien (Middleton) and Johanne Pywell (Searles).
