Mollie Patterson picked up some good table tennis victories as she performed on the international stage at the Swedish Youth Open.
The 14-year-old Brancaster Staithe player won two of her three group matches in the Cadet Girls’ Singles, beating Jia-Yu Sung of the USA 3-0 (12-10, 11-6, 11-6) and the host nation’s Nomin Baasan 3-0 (11-9, 13-11, 11-9).
Despite defeat in her other group match, going down 3-0 (11-3, 11-8, 11-5) to Germany’s Anastasia Bondareva, Patterson qualified for the last 32.
However, her run came to an end at the hands of Yat Poon of Hong Kong, who won 3-0 (11-0, 11-8, 11-6).
Patterson is next in action at the PG Mutual National Championships in Nottingham, which start today, where she will play in the senior women and under-21 events.
