After winning the Junior Fenland League ‘C’ final in 2013, West Norfolk stepped up to a tougher level in the ‘B’ final at Whittlesey.

City of Ely hosted the event, also welcoming Peterborough B, First Strokes and Mildenhall.

Team captains Jacob Isle and Alice Ireland were both in fine form, winning two races each. Katelin Taylor and Freddie Laws duly followed suit with two wins apiece, putting West Norfolk into an early lead.

Single wins were also earned by Rosie Muspratt and Harry Sharpe in the 50m back and 50m breast respectively. Strong swims from First Strokes and Peterborough saw West Norfolk overhauled.

Many other West Norfolk swimmers recorded personal bests and racked up plenty more points for the club. The team finished a very creditable third, and a positive attitude will be carried into next year’s competition.

Many thanks to team manager, Chris Sykes, who encouraged some great performances from her swimmers. Jake Hall did an excellent job in marshalling, and Celina Taylor, Paul Johnson and Alistair Hazell were invaluable as poolside officials.
