One of the highlights of the day was 12-year-old Victoria Mayfield who achieved a hole in one on the tricky 142-yard par 3 fifth hole.

Scoring for the Texas Scramble was very close with only one shot separating the top four groups.

In fourth on 57.8 were Heacham Manor members David Hutchinson, Rob Dicks, Ricky Long and Geoff Ward, third with net 57.4 were Marham members H Jenner, P Jones, D Wright and M Osling, second on 57.2 Heacham members David Mayfield, Joanne Mayfield, Victoria Mayfield and Dennis Snell, and winners on 56.8 were last year’s winners, Heacham Manor members Ben and Tim King with guests Anthony Dobbing and Gary Coton.

Steve Eldridge was overwhelmed by the amount raised.

l Heacham Manor’s Espley Ex Cup concluded last weekend after 13 competitions over the summer. The order of merit competition was sponsored by current men’s club captain Leon Espley and takes into account players’ positions in the medal and stableford competitions over the summer.

Before the start of the final round the cup could have gone to any of five players with only nine points separating them. Nigel Waldock led on 65 points, John Eaton on 61 and Aaron Daly 57, all of whom were set to tee off together.

Despite Ben King topping the medal results on the day with a net 75, Eaton came sixth and achieved enough to secure top spot ahead of Waldock by three points.

l The annual Searles Club presentation evening took place on Friday at Searles Golf and Country Club.
