Clarke wins King’s Lynn title on 17th hole

The King’s Lynn Golf Club Ladies Championship this year had to be cancelled due to the weather, but a new date was found for the 36-hole medal play followed by the semi-finals and finals.

The four qualifiers were Sue Clarke with a gross score of 145, Mary Wilson on 175, Soon Letchford, 175 and Fan Brown 180.

In the semis, Clarke beat Brown and Letchford beat Wilson. The final proved to be a very close contest with Clarke winning the title on the 17th hole from Letchford.

The winner of the Jo Skoulding Cup for the best handicap score on the 36 holes was Letchford.

The ladies captain, Pat Arnold, presented the shield and the cup to the winners.

l A sigh of relief was heard when the Ladies Invitation Day turned out to be a real summer’s day. The ladies had guests from a large area. After play, the presentation of prizes followed by Arnold.
