West Norfolk Colts 12
West travelled to old rivals Holt in the first game in their Eastern Counties Cup pool.
It was clear from the start that Holt had a game plan and had the squad to stick to it. From the outset West were under pressure with Holt playing at a fast pace which they struggled to match and after being camped in the West 22 for long periods Holt opened the scoring out wide.
This was followed by two more tries of a similar nature to end a dominant first half for Holt.
The second half did not get any better for West as Holt continued to pile on the pressure and points. It was made worse when West went down to 14 men for what seemed a harsh yellow card in a game that despite being intense was played in good spirit. Holt made the most and stretched their lead to 48-0.
West showed they still had fight left in them and when restored to 15, Ollie Pocket finished off a strong forwards drive. This was followed by John Nwaneri intercepting and sprinting under the posts.
Despite the surge at the end this was a below par performance from West. West have another cup match next weekend and they need to pick themselves up and play the way they know they can.
Man of the match: Joe Shirley.
