Colchester 57

West Norfolk Colts 7

This was the third match in the Eastern Counties Cup and by far the toughest as West travelled into Essex.

The West lads should be proud of their performance against a top class side in the upper age limit of the Colts and most of the lads have another season to improve.

The difference was Colchester’s ability to finish when they had the chance.

The first half saw West facing a stiff head wind and much stiffer opposition, as Colchester opened up the West defence with their first attack.

Half-time came with West trailing 31-0.

The second half sawWest’s only try of the afternoon as Harry Mahoney punched a hole in the Colchester backline. Mitchell Anderson continued but was tackled just short of the line. West were awarded a penalty from the ruck and a quick tap and go by John Nwaneri saw him dive over the line.
