North Runcton 2nds beat Norwich 3rds by eight wickets in Alliance Division Four.
Norwich’s skipper won the toss and elected to bat on what seemed a favourable pitch for batting.
Probing spells by Means (3-48), Annakin (1-28) and W.Lankfer (1-15) put Norwich on the back foot and at the halfway stage of the innings NRCC looked on top as they had their opponents 59-3.
Sensible batting from A.Goodrum (48*) and the lower order help Norwich get up to a very respectable 174 off their 45 overs.
Rawson continued his fine form with the ball, claiming 3-21 near the back end of the innings.
North Runcton’s reply started poorly with Rawson being bowled in the first over.
This brought Tim Coote to the crease and within a 15-over period he had virtually taken the game away from his opponents, smashing 77 off just 40 balls to all parts of the field.
This gem of an innings practically handed North Runcton the victory but Coote departed unfortunately short of his century.
This left Jack Johnson and George Rawlings, both finishing 39 not out, to see Runcton home in style, reaching their target of 175 in the 26th over and only two wickets down.
