Seniors Invitation Day at Middleton Hall Golf Club is always popular with members and their guests.

This year, 52 players took part for the many prizes on offer. The competition for the main prizes was fierce, with two teams leading the way on 48 points.

Eleanor Kelly and Deborah O’Brien took first place on countback, narrowly edging Tony Reid and Ian McKenzie into second. Third went to Flora Horne and Roger Sloper with 47.

Other results: Nearest the Pin in two shots on the tricky 7th hole was won by Lilian Mummery; in one on the 11th was won by Nigel Hawkins and on the 15th by Brian Shales.

The best front nine was won by Phil Rumball and John Scales with 23 points and the prize on the back nine went to Jim Hudson and John Hewitt with 24.
