Title contenders Denver and Castle Rising both lost their final matches of the West Norfolk Indoor Cricket League season on Sunday – but Denver prevailed by three points to win Division Two.

Ashleigh Corbett not out 34 starred for Downham Town A against their neighbouring rivals Denver.

Chasing 93-5, Denver fell just six runs short despite the batting efforts of Simon Brooking, who was run out by Syed Islam for 23, and Daniel Clifton not out 20, but the four points they collected proved to be enough.

Downham’s Jason Porter was the most miserly bowler and only wicket-taker with an analysis of 2-0-9-1.

Swaffham (Alexander Payne no 27) posted a competitive 115-2 in their 10 overs which was enough to beat Castle Rising by ten runs.

Rising were all out in 8.4 overs, Darren Clarke’s 60no being vain. He was dismissed lbw by Mark Eagle (2-17). Tables: page 89 of Friday’s (March 17) paper.

Division Two: Downham Town A 93 all out (10 overs) 12pts beat Denver CC 87-4 (10) 4pts; Swaffham 115-2 (10) 12pts beat Castle Rising 105-6 (8.4) 4pts; Thornham 70-3 (10) 1pt lost to Bircham 71-0 (7.4) 12pts.
