Double joy for Koenigsberger at Cambridge

Four West Norfolk AC members took part in the Eastern Regional Championships in Cambridge.

Lucy Koenigsberger continued her excellent winning form with a fantastic double-first in the hammer and shot (10.87m).

The hammer was a new regional championships record of 49.16m.

Matthew Bailey retained his title from last year in the 110m hurdles for senior men in 16.11.

Bailey was also placed fourth in the 100m (11.48).

Mason Higby, like Koenigsberger, is bound for the English Schools Championships next month.

He won bronze in both the discus (32.31m) and shot (11.72m).

Ben Richards jumped a season’s best 1.40m in the high jump for fifth and was also placed fifth in the long jump with 4.10m, a new personal best.

In the Mencap Festival of athletics in Barnsley, Cameron Ross won triple gold in 100m, 200m (28.27, a PB) and long jump.

The 100 and 200 were championship records.

Under-15 athlete Alfie Williams represented Norfolk in the Regional Combined events Championships.

The youngster finished a fine 13th as a first year athlete.

He managed PBs in all five events and performed well in the 80m hurdles (14.9), a new event for Williams and in the shot where he threw a fantastic 11.01m.
