Ryston Runners Ryan Wood and David MacQueen were part of the Norfolk under 11 boys team that took part in the Regional Sportshall Athletics Championships, held in Hatfield on Sunday.
Ryan and David were selected for the county team following excellent performances throughout this winter’s sportshall season.
At the Regional Championships, Norfolk competed against five other counties from the Eastern Region.
The under 11 boys finished a very creditable second, behind Essex. Ryan and David both contributed to the Norfolk team’s success.
The highlight for Ryan was finishing joint first in the speed bounce, while David was a member of the victorious hurdles relay team.
l At the Southern Indoor Championships for Master Athletes, which also featured the Eastern Masters championships, Ryston’s Paul Harrison, after several months struggling with health and injury issues, leaped back into the limelight with a 10m 87 Triple Jump that saw him set a new CBP in his new M50 age group and put him on top of his age group rankings for this event for 2017.
New member Tim Rudd was the sole Ryston Runner in the 750-strong field for the Stamford Valentine’s 30K road race.
Finishing well inside the top half of the field, in 228th place, Tim was pleased with a time of 2:30:38 over the challenging, hilly course.
