Lizzie Driver, Brownie Leader with 3rd Downham Brownies, has won a bronze medal in the Luge World Cup in Kühtai, Tirol, Austria.

She is believed to be the first Brit to have done this feat.

Sunday saw the GRM Group Luge World Cup on Natural track season opener for 2014/2015. Driver won the Small Final and scored a surprising third place.

Results: 1 Sara Bachmann (Italy) 25 points, 2 Liudmila Aksenenko (Russia) 24, 3 Elizabeth Driver (GB) 23.

Anita Cornish, press officer for Clackclose District Guides, said: “How’s that for girl power? This is an incredible achievement and Clackclose District Guides are extremely proud of her.”

The second event of the GRM Group Luge World Cup on Natural Track is placed in Laas (Italy) and held from January 2-4.
