Emma swims hat-trick of wins for King’s Lynn club

The latest rounds of the Anglia League and Junior Fenland League have been keeping West Norfolk’s swimmers busy.

For the Anglian League the team travelled to Thetford with team manager Chris Sykes for a lively evening of competition against Peterborough A and B, Thetford, St. Ives, Boston and Wisbech.

There were some fine swims from the team which comprised experienced and novice swimmers.

Emma Aubrey-Jones was in very good form taking a hat-trick of wins in her individual events.

Seasoned competitor Kayleigh Venables also took maximum points with a win in the Open age group 50m freestyle.

Final result: 1 Boston A 144 points; 2 St. Ives 122; 3 Thetford 109; 4 WNSC 98; 5 Boston B 71.

Another team travelled to Peterborough for the Junior Fenland League with team manager Sarah Vanderloo.

There were some very spirited and determined performances, especially from Olivia Skittrell and Daniel Grimmer making their debuts for the club.

Individual wins on the night went to Gemma White (100m I/M), Harvey Isle (50m backstroke) and two superb swims from Ellie-Mae Shepperson (50m fly and 100m I/M).

There were a healthy number of second placings and many personal bests swum which is always encouraging to see.

Result: 1 Peterborough A 173 points; 2 Thetford 143; 3 WNSC 113; 4 Huntingdon 110; 5 Ely 103.

All the swimmers wish to thank their club’s poolside officials and supportive families.

Valuable experience was gained at both events and the teams look forward to the next rounds.
