Several West Norfolk junior badminton players entered the under-12 county schools competition in Norwich.

Twelve year-old Harry Wakefield from Feltwell was a double champion, although many others competed well against strong opposition.

In the middle section, Noah Wells won his group and semi, and just lost his final by 15-21.

Jack Leverett was in a three-way tie in his group, reaching the semi-final after points count-back, unfortunately then losing to Harry.

In the top section, Harry won his group and semi-final then defeated Norwich’s Adithya Velu 21-8 in the final for his first title of the day.

In the girls singles first round, Millie Bowyer topped her group after a three-way tie so went through to the main draw knock-out, and she was joined by Amy Howard who finished second in her group.

Jamie Street, Paige Roper, Kym Hutchinson and Cadence Staff all went through to the plate knock-out.

In the boys doubles Harry with his partner George LeBon and Noah and Jack won their respective groups, with the latter then winning a playoff match to face Harry and George in the semi-final.

Harry and George proved just too strong, winning 21-9, although then had a tough match in the final, beating Adithya and Narden 21-20.

Jacob/Alfie, and David/Cole finished second in their respective groups, just missing the knock-out rounds.

In the girls doubles, Paige and Amy did well to finish second in their group, and as top runners-up, they reached the semis, where they lost to the eventual winners.
