West Norfolk Junior Badminton player, Harry Wakefield from Feltwell, won a silver medal at an under 13 national bronze level tournament.
The 10-year-old (pictured) was runner-up in the mixed event at the bronze tournament in Ipswich with his Suffolk partner Chloe Dennis.
Both are officially in the U11 age group, so were playing against many older competitors, who came from Essex, Bucks, Herts and Kent.
They won all three games in their initial group, including defeating the partnership of the two singles event winners 21-12. They then won their quarter-final and semi-final matches relatively easily.
The final was close from the start, with very little to choose between them right to the end, however, Harry and Chloe only just lost it 21-18 to take home the silver medals.
In the boy’s singles, Harry won all three matches in his group to reach the knockout rounds, where he lost to the eventual runner-up 21-13 in round two.
He and his partner, Louis Davis, won two matches in the boy’s doubles, but just missed out on a place in the knockout stage with a close 20-21 game.
Fellow West Norfolk Juniors Jessi Bateman and Charlie Wakefield entered the recent national U15 bronze level tournament in Nottingham, which attracted players from as far away as Cornwall.
Although not winning any medals, the pair played well and both won all games in their respective singles groups, to reach the quarter-finals, but were unable to progress any further.
Jessi and her partner also made it through to the last eight of the mixed event.
