Downham Junior Badminton club held a fun Christmas competition at the Alive Leisure Sports Centre.
Some 24 young players formed four teams, each with six players, ranging in age from 6 to 16. They played singles, doubles and even triples (three players on each side!) games, with the aim of accumulating as many points as possible.
Results were close with less than 20 points between the teams at the end of the afternoon. Joe Rolfe’s Green team of Jamie Salas-Brown, Harry Bird, Alfie Brown, Emily Sargent and Mabel Brown (with a little help from coach, Carol Cade) came out top with 10 points more than the next team. Final fun games were organised by coach Gary Hellard with refreshments following.
Any youngsters thinking they’d like to try badminton should contact Helaine Wyett on 07712 239191 or email email@example.com.
Sessions run during term time from 4.15-5.30pm at Downham Alive Leisure centre and cost just £2.
