Hardy effort nets King’s Lynn personal best on Open 10TT debut

EDCA (East District) 10-mile Open Time Trial Championships on the B10/37R course on Saturday saw four King’s Lynn Cycling Club riders compete in a field of more than 65.

Sarah Hardy competed in her first Open 10TT for KLCC and achieved a personal best time of 29.23.

Sarah commented: “I was looking forward to getting back to the Tottenhill 10-mile TT for my second attempt at it.

“I worked really hard to improve on my last time.

“I was ecstatic to get sub-30 minutes.”

James Senter also did a PB in 22.08 Simon Hardy also competed in 23.32.

Kay Burgess also competed in a best time of 26.45.

David Procter took part on Saturday in the East Anglia VTTA’s 50-mile TT on the E2/50c course which runs on the A11 and A14 near Newmarket.

His time of 1:48:24 and average speed of 27.7mph was good enough for sixth place overall, and a new PB at 50 miles beating the previous PB by almost nine minutes.

Procter commented that conditions were warm and humid with the occasional sudden downpour. It was a race of attrition with around 16 riders suffering punctures after the flash rainstorms.

l On Sunday many KLCC members took part in the Sandringham Cycle Together Bike Sportive for Leonard Cheshire charity.

Members cycled the many routes on offer.

l Go Ride Club are attempting to cover the mileage from Lands End to John O’Groats for charity East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices and club funds.

Allison Bingham, Go Ride spokesperson, stated: “The attempt to cover the mileage from Lands End to John O’Groats is getting closer now.

“On July 2 King’s Lynn Go Ride are attempting to complete 3,516 laps of the athletics track at Lynnsport.”

The children of Go Ride have been practising for this attempt. Lynn’s new Mayor, councillor David Whitby, will attend and congratulate Go Ride on their recent Clubmark Accreditation, which will take place at 11am.
