Keen tennis players are urged to have a go on four brand new Alive Lynnsport courts.

The courts’ opening ceremony was popular, with more than 150 people taking part in the sport across two days.

The launch to celebrate the opening by Deputy Mayor Cllr Carol Bower took place during Great British Tennis Weekend. The bright blue courts, which were jointly funded by the Lawn Tennis Association and the West Norfolk Borough Council and cost £200,000, are part of a huge re-development at Alive Lynnsport that includes two new Astroturf pitches, a new car park and access road.

Jodie McGill, tennis development manager, said: “The weekend was a fantastic success and it was great to see so many people using and enjoying this community facility. Our coaching programme has something for everyone and has started so I can’t wait to see more local people getting involved.”

The courts also played host to a number of local business people when the first Fit4Work event took place.

With fun and friendly coaching provided by Just JC Tennis, whether you are a beginner or looking to improve your skills there is something on offer. There is a summer programme of camps for children and the full tennis programme starts in September.

The courts are open 8am-10pm (Monday-Fri), 8am-9pm (Sat and Sun) and 8am-5pm (bank holidays) for pay and play at a cost of £6.50 an hour.

Courts and all coaching programmes can be booked online at www.aliveleisure.co.uk/tennis
