Last year’s winners Heacham Social were victorious again in a very close match against Docking in the final of the annual Ingleby Bowls Tournament tournament organised and sponsored by Hunstanton Town Council.
First played in 1913 when Docking took the honours, the tournament has become a fixture in Hunstanton’s sporting calendar and each of the teams in the final have won the cup several times.
The Mayor Andrew Murray thanked Town Clerk Lisa Powell for organising the tournament and John McDonagh for setting up on the day, and said he was delighted to present the trophy and runner–up awards.
Captain of the Heacham Social team Sue Dainton said: “It was a great match to watch and the final result of 69-64 shows how close it was.”
Docking’s captain Maureen Leverett congratulated Heacham Social for a close match and thanked her own team and the organisers for an excellent afternoon.
