In week 13/18 in the Premier League, the top two teams met in a thrilling match.

The TopSpynn visitors of Richard Johnson, Karl Brown and Ross Brown took the spoils 6-4 but Ziggys player Gary Hewitt was the star of the show with a fine maximum.

Even though TopSpynn won they are still trailing by 17 points with a game in hand.

St James hosted Wisbech Wizards and were also on the wrong end of a 6-4, Brett Heppenstall with a nice maximum for the visitors and Alan Ashberry a brace. Both players paired up to take the doubles. Owen Turner 2, Alan Jones 1 and Chris Gay 1 were the scorers for the home team.

Avengers entertained Pegg Scaffolding and came up against in-form Wayne Mason’s maximum and he led his team to a 7-3 win, Martin Skipper 2 and Peter Pegg 1. Avengers scorers were Keith Phillips 2 and Jerry Irving 1.

Two-player Heacham ‘A’ hosted Ambits and gave the visitors a three-game head start, however Leigh Macdonald scored a nice maximum for the hosts and Mick Ruffles beat Graham Rogerson to see the home side get a 5-5 draw.

Jeff Chung and Lewis Baldock both beat Mick in return.

Wasps took on Heacham and yet another 5-5 draw was the outcome, Tomasz Simka the only player on the night going unbeaten for the home team, Steve Goodale 1 and Mike Crowson 1. For Heacham James Patterson and the ever improving Aaron Howell both scored a brace and teamed up to take the doubles.

Only four matches took place in Division One.

Table toppers Wisbech Hawks took on third placed Runcton Holme and sailed to a 7-3 win, Graham Shepard and Graham Pack both gaining full maximums and the doubles together. For Runcton Melvyn Jupp, Nick Osborne and Graham Warren all had good wins over Nick Pack.

Only a point behind the Hawks are Wasps ’2’ who were helped by Runcton Holme ‘A’ only fielding two players so gave them a three-game headstart. Wasps won 8-2, Danny Vertigan had two wins for the hosts but Mick Forth was in form for the away team with a fine maximum. Terry Rudd and David Hughes both had a win over Mik Pitt.

Fourth placed Greenfingers took on a rejuvenated Pauls Driving School, Paul Barrett and Trevor Mason both gaining maximums for the away team seeing them to a 6-4 win.

Gordon Penney, Graham Keeley and Stuart Frost all had wins over Ash Starling.

Spin Doctors and Runcton Holme ‘B’ ended all square at 5-5 with Peter MacDonagh the star of the show winning all three of his games for Doctors. Roger Chilvers and Gary Wiggs both had wins over Bryan Parsons in back up.

In return for Runcton David Lane and Clive Sandle both won a brace and paired up to take the doubles.
