Isabella Thurnell from West Winch is believed to have become the youngest winner of two national clay pigeon shooting titles.
Isabella, 13, known as Izzy “Blonde Spitfire” on the circuit, at Nottingham District Gun Club competed in the English Open Double Rise Championship on Saturday, and the British Open Double Rise Championship on Sunday, in both the Ladies and Colts categories.
She took both titles. The family are waiting for confirmation from the Clay Pigeon Shooting Association (CPSA), who are the sport’s governing body, to confirm whether she is the youngest winner.
The British Open Trophy for Ladies was first sponsored in 1985 by RD Power Ltd from Downham. A member of staff, Audrey Smith, was shooting for England at Nottingham and has been a great support to Isabella.
