Pelicans 2nds 6
Norwich Dragons 2nds 2
Despite the scoreline this was an interesting game.
Pelicans did not start that well and Dragons came at them in numbers. Again an opposition side too easily created overlaps, this being down to poor marking.
However Taylor tried to instruct those in front of him and combined with Olley to produce several well timed tackles to hold Dragons back. Dragons struck first via a simple tap-in. This goal again was made easier from poor marking and too many Pelicans focusing on the ball carrier as opposed to the men they should be marking.
Corbett and Kent peppered the Dragons keeper but he had a 10-minute period of brilliance that kept them at bay. It was Kent though, still in sparkling form, who dribbled into the D and unleashed an awesome strike that left the keeper no chance. Within minutes he had repeated the feat but this time with one of his trademark reverse strikes that went in with equal power.
Goal number three came from Kent dribbling into the D from the right and picking out Corbett on the left who always makes goals look easy. Number four came from Hoare who picked up a rebounded shot on the edge of the D, pulled it back from a defender and fired a great shot in off his back foot.
Goal number five came from “JV” Vinson and six came from Corbett picking the ball on the right from Vinson’s aerial, and generously crossing to Kent for his hat-trick.
