Six riders of Lynn CC travelled to the Breckland Cycle Club TT event near Watton and competed against 70 other riders.
A gusty wind on parts of the 10 mile undulating couse caused difficulties for most riders and reflected in their finishing times. Jo Brooks and Phillip Seaman took part in their first TT using TT bikes but settled after two miles despite the conditions.
However most riders managed to beat the standard times (in brackets) and these were; Simon Hardy 24.37 (+1.50), Jo Brooks 30.32 (-3.30), Phillip Seaman 26.37 (+1.01), Marcus Hopkins 25.49 (+0.20), David Procter 23.22 (+3.32), David Webster 24.03 (+2.47).
Several club riders are entering the Tour of Cambridgeshire 132 km Gran Fondo sportive and it is the first closed road event of this distance in the UK. There are still places available on June 7.
The club’s social ride of 50 miles on Sunday attracted 20 riders (some of whom are pictured below) and went to Oxborough after starting from the Sandboy at Bawsey. This is a weekly event, and attracts all abilities of riders. Please look at the website www.kingslynn cyclingclub.co.uk
Plans are well ahead for the Lynn cycle race in October and it is expected to attract 60-plus riders. The race is being sponsored by West Norfolk Insurance and the Insurance Office of Lynn.
