Two results for the New Lynn RPC, writes Kevin Mason.

The first race was from Carentan (France) when 11 members sent 66 birds, and released at 0735 hrs in a light NE wind. Peter Farrow won the race for Her Majesty the Queen and took 5hrs 55 mins to fly the 254 miles winning all pools and the nom.

Result: 1, 4 Her Majesty the Queen, 1258, 1227; 2 Pat and Julie Royle, 1239; 3 Kim Peacock & Bernie Byrne, 1231; 5 Manning Brothers & Son, 1213; 6 Eddie, Jim and Guy Perry, 1212.

The above club’s latest race was from Poole when 11 members sent 131 birds and were liberated in a light SW wind at 0730 hrs. First win of the season for West Lynn’s Pat and Julie Royle when their yearling took 4 hrs 3 mins to fly almost 174 miles, and was well clear of the rest. They also won first pools and nom; second pools went to Peter and Dave Ellwood.

Result: 1 Pat and Julie Royle, 1254; 2 Phil and Wayne Vincent, 1158; 3, 6 Her Majesty the Queen, 1109, 1089; 4 Riches and Anderson, 1108; 5 John Purcell and Sam Denton, 1093.

Wereham also raced from Poole; eight lofts sent 100 birds. Jim and Wendy Cook and Paul King led the way with a Ponderosa Janssen and took 4hrs 22 mins to fly 163 miles to its Hilgay lofts.

Result: 1 Jim & Wendy Cook & Paul King, 1095; 2 Simon Emmerson & Son, 1073; 3, 6 Billy Mellett, 1065, 1021; 4, 5 Rodney Cochrane, 1038 (both birds).

Clenchwarton’s (south) eight members sent 90 birds to Poole. Peter and Dave Ellwood had three birds make the top six. Their winner took 4hrs 37 mins to fly 173 miles.

Result: 1, 3, 4 Peter and Dave Ellwood, 1097, 1091, 1071; 2, 6 Dale & Neil Dennis, 1092, 942; 5 Ken Jolly, 944.

Clenchwarton (north) raced from the Scottish Borders at Berwick; eight members sent 98 birds. Wally and Sheila Collins had their Vandenabeele birds on top form, taking the top three and the winning bird taking 4hrs 31 mins to fly 228 miles.

Result: 1, 2, 3 Wally and Sheila Collins, 1479, 1450, 1418; 4 Her Majesty the Queen, 1365; 5 George Moon, 1333.8; 6 Gerry Knights & Sons, 1333.
