Last Friday, a delegation of four riders from King’s Lynn Cycling Club’s GoRide club attended the first round of Fenland Clarion’s GoRide Cross Race series in Peterborough.
Racing on grass with a mixture of challenging corners and gradients, against riders from six different teams, the racing was close and exciting for both competitors and spectators.
Overall results saw Bethany Barnett finish second in the under 12 category with 56 points. In the U10s, Florence Barnett finished third with 51, and in their debut visit, Ben Shephard claimed fifth with 46 points and Andrea Campbell claimed 12th with 26.
Race one saw Bethany finish 4th in the U12; Florence and Ben finished 5th and 6th in U10.
Other results, race 2: Bethany moved up to finish in 2nd; Florence up to 4th; Ben 6th; Andrea, after a crash in the first race, 8th. Race 3: Bethany held on to win; Florence 3rd; Ben 5th; Andrea 8th.
The next round will be on March 11, so hopefully KLCC can put in a return visit and continue the challenge.
Go Ride next home races will be in half term, on Monday, February 15 at Lynnsport, with individual and team competition. It starts off at 10.30am to noon with a fun coaching session. This will develop bike handling skills in a traffic free environment.
Racing is from 1-3pm on the grassed area adjacent to the Shed at Lynnsport. Further information and booking are available at firstname.lastname@example.org
