Eastern Counties Roller Hockey Division One

King’s Lynn senior A team took to their home rink for the third tournament of the season against Lynn B, Soham, Letchworth and Grimsby.

Prior to the tournament the KL A side were unbeaten and keen to keep their run of form going.

First game of the day was against familiar opposition in Lynn B. The game started evenly and both sides had chances to take advantage in the game. It was Lynn A who was first on the score sheet after a spell of dominating play. The B team soon found a way back and brought the game back level shortly after.

However Lynn A being the more experienced side soon began to find gaps in the opposition defence and netted on numerous occasions. Despite this continuing for the remainder of the game, Lynn B created a number of chances to convert. Final score: KL A 8 KL B 1.

Second game of the day was against fierce rivals Soham RHC. With Lynn A being the victors in the last meeting in the league Soham were keen to get their own back. Lynn got off to a poor start and conceded an early goal. Despite this they grabbed the equaliser within minutes and the game was back to all square. Both sides were on the score board again before half time and they went into the break at 2-2.

Lynn started the stronger of the two teams in the second half and was to take the lead for the first time in the game. Soham weren’t going to go down without a fight and pushed for the equaliser that came a few minutes from time. The final score of 3-3 was a fair result and one both sides will be pleased with.

The next game of the day came against Letchworth who had once again been in good form throughout the day and were keen to test the Lynn side. The game started well for Lynn as they scored two goals in the first minute of the game to take control.

Letchworth pulled a single goal back but couldn’t breakthrough any more despite creating good scoring opportunities. In the end Lynn maintained dominance and the final score ended KL A 5 Letchworth 1.

Fourth and final game of the day was against another Premier League side in Grimsby RHC. Lynn were first to find the back of the net and played the majority of the game on the front foot. Adding further goals to the score the lead was four goals going into half time. Into the second half and the game continued in the same manner. Grimsby grabbed a goal back but Lynn added a further three goals to take the final score to KL A 7 Grimsby 1.

A successful day against tough opponents and despite a draw in the results Lynn A continue their unbeaten run and will look to press on at the next tournament.
