The bank holiday weekend comes with a bang at Lynn’s Adrian Flux Arena with two action-packed meetings set to entertain the crowds, featuring racing from a variety of Banger Racing categories, Stock Cars and even three-wheeled Reliant Robins.
Racing kicks off tomorrow evening (6pm) with 1500cc National Bangers, Two-Litre Saloon Stock Cars and three categories for under-16 year-olds – Ministox, MicroStox and the Junior Bangers English Championship. Then on Monday afternoon (1pm), Micro Bangers and Reliant Robins will feature alongside a Banger Racing ‘Battle of the Sexes’ where the ladies take on the men for bragging rights in households across the county.
Lynn local Darren Fendley and top Swaffham drivers Ashley, Terry and Jack Garrod expect to be in action on both days as they continue their quest for the silver roof awarded to the national points champion. Lynn-based stock car driver Wes Freestone also makes an appearance in the Bangers on Saturday night, while further hometown drivers set to be in the thick of action include Karl Thorpe, Gavin Oakes and Chris Loveridge.
Ashley Garrod should also play a starring role in the Battle of the Sexes, where Lynn’s Kay Atter hopes to shine for the ladies.
Local drivers Willie Skoyles Jr and brothers Lee and Jamie Sampson return to their home track after disappointment in the Two-Litre Saloon Stock Cars English Championship staged at Mildenhall in Suffolk last weekend. Of the three, only Jamie Sampson qualified for the final, but he failed to start the wet race which was won by Norwich driver Martyn Parker. The new champion will be proudly displaying the cross of St George on his car’s roof this weekend.
Home hopes in the Junior Bangers English Championship rest with Kieran Bowman who will start among the favourites, while Ben Green and Kyle Warren will attempt to qualify via the last-chance race.
